How is the Allegro different?
The allegro is a great fit for all orchestra musicians: Strings, Winds, Brass etc. Fully aluminum, our lightweight model is fully adjustable to suit the unique needs of every individual.
How is it designed specifically for musicians?
The 95 degree angle of the back support is the greatest comfort to musicians. Traditional chairs slope backwards to ensure stackability. This backward slope is not conducive for long hours of practicing and playing as a musician. The Allegro is specifically designed to meet the musicians body and provide long lasting support.
In addition, the fully adjustable nature of the Allegro allows each person to have a unique, and comfortable experience on and off stage.
Key Features
The seat slope is adjustable. It is shipped entirely level, but can be adjusted to slope slightly forwards or backwards for any who desire.
Adjustable Back
There are four different backbars that attach to the Allegro base.
- Straight- Fits the average musician
- Straight Tall- Puts the back cushion higher up
- 2” Bend- Brings the cushion forward on the seat
- 4” Bend- Brings the cushion further forward on the seat
Additionally, all back bars adjust forward and backward, as well as up and down, with a simple turn of the handwheel.
Adjustable Leg Extensions
- Differing heights also means that each musician will find comfort sitting at different heights. The Allegro’s leg extensions are a simple way to adjust the sitting height for each individual musician. The leg extensions are solid aluminum, with threaded holes that are screwed into place for stability.
- Despite being fully adjustable, our Allegro chairs do not want in stability. We use all high quality materials to ensure a stable and comfortable experience for all our customers.
- If you would like to inquire about any custom designs, please email us at info@concertdesign.com, and we will be happy to discuss your wants and needs.
Important note for Orchestras
The Allegro is fully stackable. Should you need non-adjustable chairs, the Allegro can be set to one uniform height and one uniform back bar to suit your Orchestra needs.

Individuals, too!
Concert Design customized an Allegro Chair for young cellist, Chadd Yaniw.“As a teacher, I am seated for extended periods of time. I have found the Allegro chair from Concert Design to be the finest chair for any musician or instructor. I had been sitting on the same chair for about 12 years and was noticing troubles in the top back of my legs. The first evening I used the Allegro, I noticed the difference immediately. For the first time in a while, my legs weren’t sore or fatigued I would highly recommend the Allegro for any musician. To me, it is the finest chair on the market and it is built by musicians for musicians and you can’t get any better than that.” Pete Melkert, Socrates 62, Brantford, Ontario, Canada (2016)
“Excellent Chair! Everything is superbly crafted. I want to encourage you to continue making these excellent products, which make it so much easier to practice and perform when sitting for long periods of time. without feeling any pain in my back!” Aaron Comins, Baritone Saxophone, Manhattan Wind Ensemble, Columbia Wind Ensemble, New York, NY (2009)
“I recently purchased an “Allegro” orchestra chair from Concert Design and I like it very much. It is lighter and easier for our stage crew to move than their harp chair. After playing a week of Swan Lake and into a week of Camelot, I
can state that I am definitely pleased with this chair. I do not sit against the padded chair back while playing, but rather on the middle and front edge. However, the back rest is very comfortable for sitting/leaning against while waiting to play.” Rosalind Beck, Principal Harp Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (2007)
“Thank you for developing such a wonderful chair. I am particularly pleased with the padded seat as it provides a maximum level of comfort I don’t feel from other chairs.” Jennifer Moore, flute player (2007) |
